JUST IN: JUVENTUS HAVE OFFICIALLY OPENED A FOOTBALL ACADEMY IN GHANA

It was founded by former Juventus player Kwadwo Asamoah and Massimiliano Taricone. 


Italian Serie A side, Juventus, have partnered with former Black Stars midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah to officially unveil an academy in Ghana.


The Ghanaian academy adds to the increasing presence of the European giants in over 50 countries and all continents.


Kwadwo Asamoah is the leader of the initiative with the Consul of Ghana to Italy, Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, also a part of the project as they continue to extend the club's values in Africa.


According to the Italian Consul, who spoke at a press conference for the opening, the initiative will receive support from Juventus, the Italian Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Education


The academy will help young boy & girl talents from Ghana aged 6-21 who want to be footballers, coaches, scouts etc. 


Education will also be provided, and they will partake in yearly Juventus football tournaments. 


During the press conference, former Ghanaian football star Kwadwo Asamoah expressed his enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing its primary goal to "make young talents better persons even before they become professional footballers." Asamoah also mentioned the personal sacrifices he made to bring this academy to fruition and expressed his dedication to impacting the lives of the young players.


Consul of Ghana to Italy, Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, who played a significant role in the academy's establishment, also addressed the press. He shared his excitement and revealed that the dream for this "magnificent project" started years ago and underwent several processes. Taricone acknowledged the incredible support received from President Nana Akufo-Addo, Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, and Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.


The official launch of the Juventus Academy Ghana is expected to take place before the conclusion of 2023.

There are plans for programmes for amputee and disabled football also.
