Good Health is a state of being free from any disorder or illness that may affect the body and entire immune system as  a whole. According to the World Health Organization (WHO); Health is the state of a complete physical, mental and social well being of an individual and not only the absence of disease. Being healthy doesn't means you not getting sick but rather you being free form physical, mental and social Illness.

Factors That Promote Good Health

1. Good Diet:  The act of eating a well balanced diet prevents the body from contacting diseases by strengthening our white cell to fight against these disease. Malnutrition exposes us to diet related disease like kwashiorkor, scurvy, pellagra, goitre, jaundice, cholera, diarrhoea, typhoid, night blindness and many more.

2. Good home and environmental sanitation: The act of keeping our home and its surroundings clean promotes good health. This can be done by disposing garbage properly and neatly, distilling chocked gutters, clearing bushy areas and clearing stagnant waters  and others places that may serve as breeding area for insects and harmful flies.  We should make sure to maintain the highest sanitation that would get rid of disease carrying organisms known as vectors.

3. Personal Hygiene:  In order to promote good health, we should make sure to keep our bodies and surroundings clean. Also, note that; Carriers of disease such as houseflies, cockroaches and  mosquitoes are prevented  from breeding, since all their breeding places are cleaned. Also, we should make sure to cover our wounds and prevent them from houseflies attack. We shouldn’t allow houseflies to settle on our wounds because they can disease through there. Also, we should trim our hair down and nicely, cut our finger nails to prevent germs from from entering. All these activities are factors that promote good health.

4. Well Ventilated and Lighted home:  We should live in a place that is spacious with a lot of windows especially with glass louvers. This is because glass louvers allow light to enter a room and are also used for ventilation. Fresh, cool air flows into the room through the windows to replace warm humid air. Good ventilation increases evaporation of sweat and prevents discomfort such as headache and drowsiness due to overheating of the body. Ventilation is also important in reducing the chances of infectious diseases. It also prevents the conditions that favour the growth micro-organisms like fungi.

5. Regular Exercise: Exercising the body on a daily basis promotes good health. This is because exercise provides strong muscles which can support the body better. It also helps to remove excretory substances more quickly and improves the digestion of food hence, preventing constipation. Exercising the body on regular basis quickens blood circulation. This improves the action of glands, nerves and brain hence, taking away stress. We become very sharp in reasoning.

6. Good source of drinking water: Water contributes greatly to the health of an individual. This is because it is the vitality of life, where it required for all metabolic activities e.g. digestion, absorption, excretion etc and also as a source of food. People with good source of drinking are protected from contracting water-borne diseases such as Guinea worm infestation, typhoid and cholera which otherwise would have killed or maimed them.

7. Eating Fruits and more Veggies:  Fruits and vegetables are the best supplements to good health. They contain high nutrients like vitamins, proteins and dietary fibre. All these nutrients help to boost the immune system of the body system.

8. Eating hot foods:  Eating hot foods are good for the system as they provide heat to the body cells and keep the bodies temperature moderate. Note that, eating hot foods does not mean to eat too hot foods. Eating too hot foods can cause damage in the body like the teeth. Eat foods that below the boiling point. Make sure you do not cold foods.

9. Visit the hospital for Regular checkup:  We should make sure we visit the hospital regularly for checkup because not every disease shows their symptoms early. Some disease may be within you so when you go for checkup you will see it early and cure it safely.
