The Akoefe District Pastor of EPCG, Rev. Justice Senyo Blekor, recounted the ordeal to The Mirror , stating that approximately 400 mourners from the three churches were present when the bees swarmed during the reading of tributes.
The deceased included two members of EPCG, two from the Global Evangelical Church, and one associated with the Lighthouse Chapel International.
After several hours, each bereaved family returned quietly to the scene, where they quietly carried their deceased loved ones to the cemetery for individual burials .
This unexpected incident left many in shock, as residents confirmed that such an incident had never occurred at the venue before.
Rev. Blekor noted that the churches planned to collaborate with traditional authorities to fumigate the trees in the park, to hopefully prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future.
