The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is now under fire from the

ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for insulting remarks made against Dr. Mahamudu

Bawumia, the NDC's vice president and 2024 flagbearer. Richard Ahiagbah, the director of communications, declared that the slurs

must end, and that they are categorically condemned. Sam Nartey George, the Ningo Prampram member of parliament, recently

called the leader and flagbearer of the NPP "religious prostitute." He claims that the Vice President's affiliations with mosques and churches—that is, with Muslims and Christians—are solely for political purposes.

On Wednesday, during Asempa FM's Ekosiisen program, Mr. Ahiagbah voiced his displeasure, claiming that some NDC members had also chosen to partake in the

insults. Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, member of the Legal and Communications team, and

the NDC's Deputy Communications Officer were mentioned by him for jumping on the bandwagon. Mr. Ahiagbah claims that if this act continues, it will spell disaster for the nation and that the NDC ought to be called to order. "Talking about this topic makes me angry, but it seems like the NDC is singing a

different tune these days. It is imperative that we clarify to them that tolerance does not imply lack of

appreciation for one's moral principles. Ghana is doing this to encourage peaceful coexistence .

Ahiagbah, who proved clearly upset, pointed out that occasionally, NDC members who detect as Christians are seen in mosques and with imams. "Does it make them religious prostitutes, they are just bringing division," he accordingly questioned.
