King Los has often demonstrated his superiority as a lyricist, but he's now gone back in time and done it in the style of blogs.

The native of Baltimore released a video on Monday, November 20, in which he spits some bars over the “Shaq & Kobe” instrumental by Rick Ross and Meek Mill, adding his own spice to the already-virbrant song.

“When God walked on water, it’s like witnessin’ my flow/ My name was written in gold and depicted in the scrolls/ As the one the ancestors predicted would be chose…/ to Master P and push it, no limit with this glow,” he raps on the opening verse of his rendition of the song.

MCs reimagining the vocals on tracks published by their peers has been a longstanding tradition in Hip Hop that offers fans an alternate perspective.

Last month, Jay Rock took an early-2000s JAY-Z track and fired it into the 2020s with a powerful new freestyle during an appearance on Justin Credible’s Power 106 show.  The TDE rap titan freestyled over “The Watcher 2,” a 2002 Jigga track produced by Dr. Dre and Scott Storch.

“N-ggas saying they street, never bleed the concrete/ Acting like the stress never got to Ghandi,” Jay Rock rapped. “What if Martin Luther King had him a tommy? Malcom X said, ‘Fuck it,’ hit him a side street/ Bent him a couple corners and got him a side piece/ Then sat up in a penthouse something like five weeks/ And feds still tapping the phone?/ Once again, it’s on.”

Jay Rock began going public with promises of a new album — his first since 2018’s Redemption — this past summer. He told Bootleg Kev that “the new album is great … [I]t’s just about trying to make good quality music. Like I said, I’m tryna do an album like my last one where you ain’t gotta skip shit. No skips.”

A few months ago, Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith, the founder of TDE, initially revealed details of the Black Hippy MC's new project. He disclosed the label's release schedule for the upcoming year in March 2023, listing all of the artists he anticipates releasing new music.

He wrote, "Reason, Rayvaughn, Doechii, Q, Jay Rock, Zac, and a compilation." "If everyone does their part, I'll release them when they turn them in."
