Safina Namukwaya, a 70-year-old woman from Uganda, made history by becoming the oldest woman in Africa to give birth. On Wednesday, she gave birth to a healthy set of twins at the Women's Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Kampala, Uganda. The joyful news spread fast following the announcement of the cesarean birth, which was made via a Facebook post.

The twins, a boy and a girl, were conceived via In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment, a method that helps women conceive even at an advanced age.

Namukwaya and her husband had been longing for a baby, so they decided to seek the help of infertility treatment, known as in-vitro fertilization (IVF). After long wait of nine months, she was delighted to give birth to healthy twins at 34 weeks.

The medical team at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) found the delivery extraordinary and heartwarming and made sure to share the news with the world. The hospital congratulated Namukwaya for for trusting in God.

Namukwaya's story is one of phenomenal strength and resilience. At only 23 years old, she's faced hardship most would be unable to image. After learning that she was expecting twins, the father of the babies abandoned Namukwaya - afraid of the responsibility ahead.

Despite this, Namukwaya pushed forward and brought the beautiful babies into the world. While she faced numerous difficulties during the pregnancy, Namukwaya is now the proud mother to two little ones. The experience has left her overjoyed and feeling blessed that her babies arrived safely into the world.

In 1992, Namukwaya allegedly became a widow before entering in a new relationship four years later. Reportedly, she suffered a miscarriage during her initial marriage.
