Answers
1a. Investing in greening TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) has two main reasons:
1. Environmental Sustainability: By incorporating green practices into TVET, we can promote sustainable development and reduce the negative impact on the environment.
2. Economic Benefits: Greening TVET can lead to the development of new green industries and job opportunities, contributing to economic growth.
1b. When it comes to proteins, there are four types:
1. Complete Proteins: These contain all the essential amino acids our bodies need. Examples include meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products.
2. Incomplete Proteins: These lack one or more essential amino acids. Examples include grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.
1c. Vitamin C has three important functions:
1. Boosting Immunity: Vitamin C helps strengthen the immune system, protecting us against illnesses and infections.
2. Collagen Production: It plays a key role in the production of collagen, a protein that supports healthy skin, bones, and connective tissues.
3. Antioxidant Properties: Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant, helping to neutralize harmful free radicals and protect our cells from damage.
2a. As a Home economist, here are three ways I would use protein effectively in daily meals:
1. Incorporate Lean Proteins: Opt for lean meats like chicken or turkey, or choose plant-based proteins like tofu or lentils to keep meals healthy and balanced.
2. Plan Protein-Rich Snacks: Include protein-rich snacks like Greek yogurt, nuts, or hard-boiled eggs to keep you satisfied between meals.
3. Mix and Match: Combine different protein sources in meals, such as adding beans to a salad or pairing eggs with whole grain toast for a nutritious breakfast.
2b. Steaming as a cooking method has its merits and demerits:
Merits:
1. Retains Nutrients: Steaming helps to preserve the nutrients in food, as it doesn't involve submerging the food in water.
2. Enhances Flavor: Steaming allows the natural flavors of the food to shine through, without the need for added fats or oils.
Demerits:
1. Longer Cooking Time: Steaming can take longer compared to other cooking methods, especially for larger or denser food items.
2. Limited Browning or Crisping: Steaming doesn't provide the same browning or crisping effect that other cooking methods like frying or roasting can
