Former Ghana international Samuel Inkoom has opined his former club Asante Kotoko can clinch the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently 7th on the domestic top-flight table after shaking off a difficult start to the season. They continued their resurgence with a 3-2 win over sworn rivals Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday.

And the former Black Stars defender insists Asante Kotoko can annex the Ghana Premier League title if they remain focused.

“I think they are on course, they played a good game against Hearts of Oak and I hope they will continue like that. I think everything was perfect, they were tactically disciplined on the pitch, they took their chances and at the end of the day, they have won.

“I will urge them to continue this way. Playing Hearts of Oak is a different atmosphere and different environment and you can see everybody is happy when they win. I believe they can win the trophy if they stay focused,” he said.

It is important to note that the former Ghana defender has had spells with the two most glamorous clubs in the country.

Inkoom featured for Kotoko between the 2008 and 2009 season before departing for greener pastures.

He turned to play for Hearts of Oak on his return to Ghana. He was part of the Phobians team last season but left the club before the start of the 2023/24 season.

Veteran journalist Kwabena Yeboah advocates for inclusion of Richmond Lamptey in Ghana’s 2023 AFCON squad.

Veteran sports journalist Kwabena Yeboah has joined the chorus of voices advocating for the inclusion of Asante Kotoko’s midfielder, Richmond Lamptey, in Ghana’s squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Yeboah, a well-respected figure in sports journalism, argues that Lamptey deserves a spot on the AFCON roster.

He emphasizes the importance of having the league's top midfielder represent Ghana on the continental stage, asserting that Lamptey's skills surpass those of some of the current midfielders in the national team.

Yeboah firmly believes that playing in the domestic league should not be a deterrent to international recognition.

“We cannot go to Cote d’Ivoire leaving the Premier League’s best midfielder behind. It would be an indictment on our league. Besides, Lamptey is better than some of the midfielders in the team. It shouldn’t be a crime for one to play in Ghana," Yeboah stated, as quoted by ghanasportspage.

It is not known as to when the Black Stars squad will be released.
