Finally, finally 2023 WASSCE results has been released, Check for more details

The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results for candidates who took the 2023 Ghana Only Version of the WASSCE for School Candidates. In a press statement dated December 18, 2023, WAEC announced that login details would be provided to heads of schools for accessing the results.

According to the performance statistics disclosed by WAEC, these results represent the best performance in the last four years. Candidates can also access their results online through the Council's website. However, a cautionary note was issued by WAEC, urging stakeholders to be vigilant against fraudulent individuals offering result upgrades for a fee. The Council emphasized the security of its results, highlighting the authenticity verification system, including the use of the WAEC QR code for result authentication.

Among the notable details, the results of 4,878 candidates have been blocked due to their failure to return learning support materials provided by their schools. WAEC instructs these candidates to contact their respective schools for further assistance.

In terms of entry figures, a total of 448,674 candidates, comprising 212,453 males and 236,221 females from 975 schools, participated in the examination. This figure reflects a 5.8% increase compared to the 2022 entry figure of 422,883. Additionally, 3,404 candidates (0.75% of the total) were reported as absent during the examination.

Performance statistics related to the four Core Subjects were provided, offering insights into candidates' achievements. WAEC reported on examination irregularities, detailing the outcomes of investigations conducted during the 35th meeting of the Ghana Examinations Committee held on December 13, 2023.

As a result of these investigations, WAEC approved the cancellation of Subject Results for 3,647 candidates found with foreign materials like prepared notes, textbooks, and printed material in examination halls. Furthermore, the Entire Results of 839 candidates were canceled due to the possession of mobile phones during the examination. Subject Results of 4,280 candidates and the Entire Results of 1,005 were withheld for various suspected offenses.

Notably, subject results of candidates from 235 schools were withheld due to collusion and the use of artificially generated intelligence answers. WAEC emphasized that these cases are still under investigation, and the withheld results may be either released or canceled based on the outcomes of further investigations.

In conclusion, the release of the WASSCE results for the Ghana Only Version in 2023 brings to light both commendable achievements and challenges. The Council's commitment to maintaining the integrity of the examination is evident through the measures taken against irregularities. Candidates and stakeholders are advised to adhere to the authenticity verification system provided by WAEC and to remain cautious of fraudulent activities surrounding result upgrades.
