Xavi Hernández is a former professional footballer from Spain. He was born on January 25, 1980, in Terrassa, Catalonia, Spain. Xavi played as a central midfielder and is widely regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation.


He spent the majority of his career playing for FC Barcelona, where he achieved incredible success. Xavi joined Barcelona's youth academy, La Masia, at the age of 11 and made his first-team debut in 1998. He quickly established himself as a key figure in the team and became an integral part of Barcelona's dominance under managers such as Louis van Gaal, Frank Rijkaard, and Pep Guardiola.


With Barcelona, Xavi won numerous domestic and international titles, including eight La Liga titles and four UEFA Champions League titles. He also helped the team win the FIFA Club World Cup and the Copa del Rey multiple times. Xavi's style of play was characterized by his exceptional passing ability, vision, and understanding of the game. He played a crucial role in Barcelona's possession-based style of play, which became known as "tiki-taka."


Internationally, Xavi represented the Spanish national team and was instrumental in their success during the late 2000s and early 2010s. He played a vital role in Spain's victory in the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the consecutive UEFA European Championships in 2008 and 2012. Xavi's performances for both club and country earned him numerous individual accolades, including being named to the UEFA Team of the Year multiple times and finishing third in the FIFA Ballon d'Or voting in 2009.


In 2015, Xavi left Barcelona and joined Qatari club Al-Sadd, where he continued to display his exceptional skills until his retirement in 2019. After retiring as a player, Xavi went on to pursue a coaching career and became the manager of Qatari side Al-Sadd.
