Real Madrid, one of the most successful football clubs in the world, has a long history of nurturing talented players. However, there have been instances where the club has let go of players who went on to achieve great success elsewhere. Here are five players who Real Madrid should have never sold:
1. Claude Makelele: Makelele was an integral part of Real Madrid's midfield during the early 2000s. Known for his defensive prowess and ability to break up opposition attacks, he played a vital role in the team's success. However, the club failed to recognize his true value and sold him to Chelsea in 2003. Makelele went on to win multiple Premier League titles and became one of the best defensive midfielders of his generation.
2. Arjen Robben: Robben joined Real Madrid in 2007 with high expectations. Although injuries limited his playing time in Madrid, he still showcased his immense talent and potential. However, the club decided to sell him to Bayern Munich in 2009. Robben flourished at Bayern, winning numerous domestic and European titles, including the UEFA Champions League. His pace, dribbling skills, and ability to score crucial goals made him one of the best wingers of his era.
3. Wesley Sneijder: Sneijder arrived at Real Madrid in 2007 as a highly promising young midfielder. He had a brilliant first season, contributing significantly to the team's success. However, with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka, Sneijder was deemed surplus to requirements and was sold to Inter Milan in 2009. At Inter, he became instrumental in their treble-winning campaign in 2010, winning the Serie A, Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Champions League. Sneijder's vision, passing ability, and goal-scoring prowess could have benefited Real Madrid greatly.

4. Gonzalo Higuain: Higuain emerged as one of the most prolific strikers during his time at Real Madrid. He formed a lethal partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and was known for his clinical finishing. Despite consistently performing at a high level, Real Madrid decided to sell him to Napoli in 2013. Higuain went on to break multiple goal-scoring records in Italy and became one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe.
5. Mesut Ozil: Ozil's time at Real Madrid was marked by his exceptional creativity and playmaking abilities. His vision, passing range, and technical skills made him a key component of Real Madrid's attacking prowess. However, the club shockingly sold him to Arsenal in 2013. Ozil enjoyed tremendous success at Arsenal, winning multiple FA Cups and becoming one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. His departure left a void in Real Madrid's midfield creativity.
These are just a few examples of players who had successful careers after leaving Real Madrid and could have potentially made bigger impacts for the club if they had been retained. The decisions to sell these players were questionable and still regretted by many Real Madrid fans.
