Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest solo singing marathon. The accomplished broadcast journalist and mother of three commenced her continuous performance of numerous Ghanaian songs on the stroke of midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2024.

As of Thursday, December 27, 2023, Afua had surpassed the previous record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who sang for 105 hours back in March 2012. Afua's extraordinary accomplishment now stands at an impressive 110 hours, and she remains resolute in her determination to extend her performance even further.

The atmosphere at the Akwaaba Village in Accra is still buzzing with excitement, with fans and dignitaries from various backgrounds continuing to shower her with applause for her unwavering resilience and exceptional talent. Notably, Bhim Nation President Stonebwoy recently paid a visit to the Akwaaba Village, providing inspiration and support to Afua.

During the 72-hour milestone of the singing marathon, the Gospel trio Daughters of Glorious Jesus, donned in vibrant attire and headgear, joined Afua in a rendition of one of their popular songs, "Wo Ntaban.” They lauded Afua's outstanding performance and offered prayers for her strength to successfully complete the marathon. Additionally, they expressed keen interest in collaborating with Afua on a song after the event.

Numerous female artists, including Wendy Shay from Rufftown Records, have also made appearances to offer words of encouragement. Wendy Shay, commenting on Afua's progress, expressed her desire to join Afua on stage.

Actor and Musician Clemento Suarez emphasized that, regardless of the final outcome, Afua has already achieved a monumental feat and deserves to be hailed as a winner. In a light-hearted manner, he added that even if Afua were to aim for a 200-hour performance, they would be there to support her. Clemento Suarez encouraged Afua to set a new target that would pose a formidable challenge for others to break in the years to come.
