The Ghanaian woman who gained international attention for her singing marathon attempt at a Guinness World Record, Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum, has conveyed her sincere gratitude to Ghanaians for their overwhelming support over the past five days.

At 126 hours and 52 minutes this morning, Afua called it quits on her singa-thon due to medical advice from her team.

A portion of the post says, "Your love, dedication, inspiration, and prayers gave me the strength to get on my feet every time and keep going for this long."

Your devotion, love, inspiration, and prayers were the things that kept me going for this long and enabled me to get back up every time. Without you, it would not have been possible! Thank you, Ghana, thank you, everyone! ????

At 126 hours and 52 minutes on Friday morning, Afua Asantewaa's sing-a-thon came to an end. Dr. Grace Buckman, the head of the medical team, gave an explanation, saying that the project was halted due to real health concerns.

Speaking Friday morning to members of the media and guests at Akwaaba Village, Dr. Buckman stated that everyone is inspired by Afua Asantewaa's effort to surpass the record for the longest singing marathon by a single person.

The team went on to explain that the lack of sleep she had been getting over the past several days was hurting her body system and that there were concerns for her overall health.

Additionally, they revealed that Afua began exhibiting indicators of mental stress, such as needless motions and remarks, which were medically predicted and had been discussed with her before to the competition.

Her attempt surpassed the current record for the longest sing-a-thon, set by India's Sunil Waghmare in 2012; however, it has not yet been confirmed by Guinness World Record judges.

The sing-a-thon was held by Afua, commencing on December 24 at precisely midnight and concluding early on Friday, December 29, 2023.
