The confirmation of the Guinness World Record cook-a-thon is awaited by Ugandan chef "Mama D."

Awaiting official confirmation from Guinness World Records judges, Ugandan culinary sensation Dorcus Mirembe, also referred to as Mama D, is making waves in the culinary world. She broke the record for the longest cook-a-thon alone.

On December 23, Mama D began her cooking marathon, breaking the previous record held by Irish chef Alan Fisher, who earlier this year in Japan cooked nonstop for almost 120 hours.

According to the most recent assessment, Mama D's remarkable culinary attempt was completed in an astounding 123 hours and 20 minutes.

The current record holder for the longest cook-a-thon was Irish chef Alan Fisher, who set the record earlier this year in Japan from September 28 to October 3. As of the publication of this post, Mama D has cooked for an astounding 123 hours and 20 minutes in total.

Her exceptional culinary endeavor has received a great deal of support from the Ugandan community, with many people swarming to her cooking site to offer support in the shape of cash contributions and moral encouragement, among other forms of aid.

Through a variety of social media platforms, public servants, business leaders, and celebrities have come together to show their support. Many of them have even gone to her eatery near Kampala to personally offer words of encouragement.

Mama D has been graciously provided with cooking supplies and other necessary materials by several food companies. She said in a media interview that she had made dishes that represented Uganda's various regions during her culinary challenge and that all of the prepared food was being given away for free.

Mama D cited her inspiration for taking on the challenge—the wide range of cuisine found in Uganda—during her culinary marathon. "Uganda is bestowed with an abundance of traditional foods, and I want to showcase them to the world, to be the ambassador for the wonderful diverse cuisines of Uganda, the pearl of Africa," she said.

In the meantime, the Modern City Hotel in Tamale will host the world record cook-a-thon attempt by Ghanaian chef Failatu Abdul-Razak from January 1, 2024, through January 5.
