The Ghanaian businessman Kendy Agyapong, also known as the "Show down king," is making headlines once more. He is the current representative for Assin Central in the Central area and a vital member of the New Patriotic Party. Following his defeat by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates election to select a new presidential candidate, some of Mr. Agyapomh's supporters have been pushing him to run as an independent in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections in order to be elected president of the Republic of Ghana.
A group of Kendy Agyapong's supporters stated in a press conference on November 27, 2023, that he should leave the New Patriotic Party and run as an independent, just like Alan Kyerematen did, if the party does not want him to be its presidential candidate in the upcoming election. Their argument was that, given how much Kendy Agyapong has improved his own constituency (the Assin central constituency) and the number of enterprises he is building to create jobs for Ghanaian youth, he is a better leader than Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. At the press conference in Kumasi, Kwabena Yankey, the head of the group of supporters of Kendy Agyapong, stated as follows: "We, the Kennedy Agyapong supporters, representing the 37 percent of the NPP delegates, wish to inform the general public that Kennedy Agyapong needs to be the next president of Ghana." Kennedy Agyapong has our support and we implore him to run as an independent in order to have a huge victory in 2024.
Kendy Agyapong hasn't said anything about this as of yet, and it doesn't appear that he will anytime soon. Actually, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will suffer a great deal if Kendy Agyapong runs as an independent; this is something they cannot afford to do if they hope to win the 2024 presidential election. Do you believe Kendy Agyapong ought to run as an independent?
