The Kaduna State Police Command reported the apprehension of three individuals believed to be involved in car theft.

As conveyed by the command's Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, the confirmation of the arrests transpired through a statement released on Monday in Kaduna.

Hassan disclosed that on December 23, 2023, officers stationed at Zaria City Divisional Headquarters detained the suspects at Agoro-Tudun Wada Zaria.

Among the detainees, a 28-year-old from Hayin Baki Birnin Gwari Kaduna State was found in possession of a pilfered red Toyota Corolla bearing the registration plate Kano GWL 188 TT.

In a parallel incident, Sabon Gari Zaria Division operatives, at approximately 1830 hours on the same date, apprehended another suspect and reclaimed a grey Toyota Corolla LE 2003 model.

This particular suspect admitted to stealing the vehicle in Kaduna town and transporting it to Zaria for disposal. Notably, the individual was a former soldier dismissed for a history of car theft, larceny, and other offenses spanning Benin, Kaduna, and Zaria.

Further, on December 27, 2023, Sabon Gari Zaria Division operatives apprehended yet another suspect from Graceland Zaria, who was in possession of a purloined white Toyota Hilux pickup van, registered as Jigawa GML 40 AG. The suspect claimed to have acquired the van from one Ibrahim with an undisclosed surname. The legitimate owner of the stolen van, located on Aliyu Mohammed Road, NDA Kaduna, has been traced.

Hassan clarified that ongoing investigations are in progress for all three cases, with efforts focused on tracking down potential accomplices for imminent arrests.

Upon conclusion of the investigations, the suspects will be brought before the court to face the legal consequences of their actions, according to Hassan.

Commending the operatives for their success, Commissioner of Police Audu Ali urged them to remain vigilant in thwarting criminal activities within the state. Ali also urged the public to provide credible information about suspicious individuals in their vicinity for swift action by security agencies.
