"Shatta Wale's boys beat me and made me apologise," the organiser of the Uniland Festival claims.
Rich Focus, the event organiser of the just concluded Uniland festival, has related the specifics of a situation involving Shatta Wale and his management, which was headed by Sammy Flex. There were reports that the altercation started as a disagreement over payment and culminated in a physical attack.
This comes after the self-proclaimed dancehall king, Shatta Wale, issued a statement claiming that he was unable to perform at the Uniland Festival, which took place at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel on December 29 and 30, because the organizers had not paid the performance fees.
The event's organizers later issued an apology to Shatta Wale's camp and took ownership of the poorly planned event in a statement.
However, Rich Focus asserted in a YouTube video interview with Kwadwo Sheldon that the event organizers' apology was written under duress.
He claims that some unidentified attackers kidnapped him, assaulted him, and forced him to apologize to Shatta Wale.
The organizer brought up the artist's past issues, mentioning a booking in Koforidua where Shatta Wale allegedly made outrageous demands at the last minute. Shatta Wale supposedly paid a performance fee but did not turn up for the event.
To get ready for their December show, Rich Focus had talks with Shatta Wale's manager, Sammy Flex. Sammy Flex allegedly demanded 100,000 Ghanaian Cedis in cash, of which 50,000 were to be paid upfront, according to Rich Focus.
"We reserved a room for him in Koforidua the first time. To be honest, it wasn't part of the deal, but after receiving his money and the performance fee, he returned with a tonne of demands that we were unable to meet. Furthermore, the university does not have such enormous funds.
"So, we spoke with Samiba Flex, the manager, regarding the December event. Alright. Indeed. Samiba Flex then declared that he would bill us 100,000 Ghanaian cedis and require 50,000 in cash. Taking the fifty thousand cedis,
Just hours before the event was about to start, Sammy Flex allegedly put pressure on Rich Focus to pay the remaining 50,000 Ghana cedis, even though they had signed a contract that said the remaining amount would be paid 15 days after the event.
"Sammy gave me a call regarding the show on the day of the performance. After asking about sound checks and other things, he followed up by asking when he would receive the final $50,000.
I informed him that we would give him the remaining amount after 15 days as per the terms of the contract. We have plenty of money to give him, after all. after he failed to show up for the performance for which we had originally paid him. Come on and give a performance.
We're afraid," he uttered.
Rich Focus revealed that Sammy Flex insisted on receiving actual money, so he gave in to the pressure and threats and agreed to pay the outstanding balance.
He continued by saying that if the money wasn't paid right away, Shatta Wale had supposedly threatened to send his boys to deal with Rich Focus.
"They said up front that they required hard currency, and we just had a few hours to set up the event. It was really annoying to put us under that pressure at that particular time. Even Shatta himself had called and threatened to send his boys to come get me and take care of me if I didn't pay the money.
"To be honest, I went to the ATM with Sammy Flex to withdraw the fifteen thousand. I afterwards returned to the event site since I had left my chequebook there. He clarified, "Like my chequebook, I signed the 35,000 cedis check for him at the event ground to make sure the performance happened."
Rich Focus said that, even after paying the requested sum, people purportedly belonging to Shatta Wale's team dragged, beat, and forced him to record a video in which he denied any wrongdoing.
However, I discovered I was encircled by roughly ten people when I got backstage. Even the Ghanaian police officers who were pursuing me were powerless to stop me.
After dragging me, they got me into a car. He disclosed, "They hit me, dealt with me in the car, and recorded me to prove I wasn't abused.
He went on to say that he felt compelled to apologise to Shatta Wale and the Shatta Movement Empire in public.
In his closing remarks, Rich Focus threatened to sue Shatta Wale over the situation.
"We haven't broken any agreements. Furthermore, it is untrue that he went online in an attempt to damage our reputation and that they misrepresented us or the message they were trying to convey. We're going to take care of that and have him pay for the writing as well.
