The District Chief Executive (DCE) Has Cautioned Residents Against Fire Outbreaks As Harmattan Surges and have asked them to take steps and measures to prevent any fire outbreak.
Hon. Akone Emmanuel, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Banda in the Bono Region has alerted farmers especially cashew farmers in the District to be very vigilant and relinquish from any act that could trigger bushfire to destroy their homes and farms in this year's harmattan season.
According to the DCE, it would be very unfortunate for the farmers to sit unconcerned for their investments, essentially their cashew farms to be burnt off through their negligence, expressing that any negative effect on their farms and other businesses would go a long way to affect the entire lives of their family.
He therefore asked the residents of Banda to obey basic fire rules as the harmattan season has intensified. This is the time for all of you to keep an open eye and be careful during this Harmattan season to prevent any fire outbreak.
Speaking to Apiah-Kubi in an interview, the DCE stated that, "Although the number of fire outbreaks are gradually reducing as I and the chiefs initiated 'fire outbreak watch dogs' in the district to observe safety precautions against fire".
"I task you to be very cautious during this period of dry season to avert any inferno especially in cashew areas to avoid further loss", he added.
He concluded that monitoring will be conducted to ensure those who violate the protocols would be punished accordingly.
He said this during an event on distribution of items to persons with disabilities in the area during the Christmas season. Let's all not take things for granted because anything that happens will not affect just an individual but the whole community and people, so let's all do our best to safeguard our environment, crops and personal belongings, especially our lives.
