Ignore NPP & NDC in the 2024 elections – Hassan Ayariga
Hassan Ayariga, the Founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), has voiced his belief that both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lack substantial offerings for the Ghanaian populace. In an interview with TV3's Roland Walker, Ayariga urged Ghanaians to reject these two major parties in the forthcoming general elections and instead cast their votes in favor of the APC to usher in the next government.
According to Ayariga, the APC is committed to implementing sound policies aimed at fostering the economic growth of the country. Emphasizing the need for change in the upcoming 2024 elections, he asserted, "The 2024 general elections are not for the NDC or the NPP. If we want the economy to grow, both parties must be swept under the carpet. That is why we in the APC are putting up this hard work and advocating for good policies."
Ayariga expressed skepticism about the maturity of Ghana's democracy, arguing that the electorate should not entirely trust the manifesto promises put forth by political parties. Instead, he proposed the formulation of a national development policy that would serve as a guiding framework for all political parties when they assume governance. This policy, as suggested by Ayariga, should have a maximum duration of eight years.
"Our democracy has not matured to the extent that Ghanaians should trust the manifestoes of the parties," Ayariga remarked during the interview. He went on to advocate for a national manifesto, describing it as a comprehensive national development plan collaboratively crafted and endorsed by stakeholders, including political leaders, academics, students, and other contributors.
In Ayariga's vision, this national development plan would transcend individual party manifestos, offering a cohesive and enduring strategy for the progress of the nation. By emphasizing the collective input of various stakeholders, he aimed to create a more sustainable and accountable approach to governance, ensuring that political promises are grounded in a unified vision for Ghana's development.
As the APC seeks to distinguish itself as an alternative to the dominant political forces, Ayariga's call for a paradigm shift in electoral choices reflects his conviction that a more comprehensive and inclusive national development plan is crucial for Ghana's democratic evolution and economic prosperity.
