Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, Operation Hadarin Daji, successfully thwarted terrorist activities, rescuing nine kidnapped victims and neutralizing ten terrorists during dry season clearance operations in Zamfara and Katsina States. This achievement was announced by Force Information Officer Cpt. Ibrahim Yahaya in a statement.
Under the command of Maj-Gen Godwin Mutkut, General Officer Commanding, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, the troops, as part of Operation Hadarin Daji, conducted an offensive operation on January 3, 2024. This operation targeted terrorist enclaves in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State. Ten terrorists were neutralized, while others fled with gunshot wounds. The troops seized an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, seven Dane guns, three locally fabricated guns, communication gadgets, mobile phones, military uniforms, and four motorcycles, which were subsequently destroyed.
Simultaneously, Operation Hadarin Daji troops operating in Zamfara State conducted a search and rescue mission in Dansadau and Dandalla villages in Maru LG of Zamfara State. The operation resulted in the rescue of nine kidnapped victims, including five women and four babies. The terrorists abandoned the victims during a gun duel with the troops. The rescued individuals were promptly reunited with their families in Magami, Zamfara State.
Maj-Gen Godwin Mutkut commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to maintain the momentum.
In a separate incident reported by PUNCH Online, troops from the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army deployed at Birnin Yero in Igabi LG, Kaduna State, successfully rescued 11 civilians kidnapped at Anguwan Maharba and Dandami villages by bandits. Tragically, two of the abducted victims were killed by the bandits before the arrival of the troops.
Additionally, men from Operation Hadarin Jadi executed successful operations in Zamfara and Sokoto States, destroying terrorists' enclaves, neutralizing numerous individuals, and recovering arms and ammunition.
These combined efforts showcase the dedication and effectiveness of the military in addressing security challenges within the region.
