Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, the Member of Parliament for Asante Akyim Central, has denied claims of instigating the arrest of the Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.

Mr. Ofosu Nkansah has been arrested by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for allegedly distributing money to delegates ahead of the parliamentary primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the NPP constituency Secretary of Asante Akyem Central, Felix Amakye, the OSP learnt of the alleged distribution of the money after Mr. Nkansah’s contender for the seat, Kwame Anyimadu Antwi, hinted the Office.

Following the report, Mr. Nkansah was taken into custody and subsequently transported to his office in Accra to assist in ongoing investigations.

But, the legislator, Mr Anyimadu-Antwi, has denied the accusation, saying he knows nothing about the arrest.

According to him, the General Secretary who is making the allegations is accusing him because he is supporting Mr. Ofosu Nkansah, making him spread misinformation.

The MP has further asserted that Mr. Amakye, the Secretary, who is accusing him, had once made an allegation on Facebook indicating that his preferred candidate is sharing monies to delegates.

“I have no clue about what the secretary is alleging and it is about time for us to do the elections and the primaries are still around the corner and this is not a do-or-die affair. The secretary has taken sides with one of the contenders and has been speaking passionately and there is pain in the constituency speaking to delegates.

If you are talking about reporting anybody to the OSP, I have no idea, but he [ Felix Amakye] is on record saying that my preferred candidate has been paying GH¢500,000 and promised to pay GH¢1 million to people and he said these things on Facebook,” he told Accra-based Citi FM.

When asked about the distribution to the sum of GH¢300 to each delegate in the constituency, Mr. Anyimadu-Antwi denied it saying he gives the money each year which has nothing to do with elections. He also said he doesn’t know the amount each delegate  is given because he doesn’t personally distribute the monies to them all the time.

“I have said that we all give Christmas presents, and I gave my constituents some presents and instead of giving them rice, oil, or something, I gave them money and this is something that I do every year.

“I won’t recall how much was given to the constituents because, sometimes, I give it to other executives who do the sharing,” he explained.
