On Saturday, January 13, Second Lady Samira Bawuia encountered an accident during her journey to the Ashanti Region, fortunately escaping without serious injuries.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), as reported on their Facebook page, received a distress call about the incident at Ohene-Nkwanta near Nobewam, off the Kumasi-Accra highway. The Konongo-Odumasi Fire Station promptly responded to the call, initiating an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

The accident involved several vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz Sprinter and Benz C180, both experiencing significant damage to their engine compartments and windshields. The rear of the Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21) was partially damaged, along with another Toyota Land Cruiser (VR- 2105-15).

The GNFS reported that a total of 8 victims suffered varying degrees of injuries. The rescue team, led by STNO II Odjer Jonathan, arrived at the scene at 1312 hours to find a collision involving the Toyota Land Cruiser (GC-9094-21), Toyota Land Cruiser (VR-2105-15), Mercedes Benz C180 (NR-1977-18), and a Benz Sprinter (GE-7256-14). As the investigation unfolds, authorities are working to piece together the events leading to the accident. The damaged vehicles, including the Mercedes Benz Sprinter, Benz C180, and the Toyota Land Cruisers, bear witness to the severity of the collision. Despite the challenges posed by the incident, the prompt response of the rescue team and the assistance provided by the public played a crucial role in minimizing the impact of the accident on the victims.
