President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has enacted a significant reshuffle within the government, promptly relieving Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta of his ministerial duties.

Additionally, other ministers affected by this restructuring include Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Works and Housing Minister Francis Asenso Boakye, Kwaku Agyemang Manu of Health, Kwasi Amoako Attah of Roads and Highways, Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation's Honorable Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, Lariba Abudu overseeing Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Dan Botwe managing Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development, Freda Prempeh heading Sanitation and Water Resources, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal overseeing Tourism, Arts, and Culture, and Henry Quartey presiding over the Greater Accra Region, along with Joseph Makubu in the Oti Region.

Furthermore, Mr. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has been reassigned to the domain of Works and Housing, while Asenso-Boakye now takes charge of Roads and Highways.

This significant announcement was made by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, on Wednesday, February 14th.

“The President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment, competence, dedication and hard work in office, which helped in the realization of Government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven (7) years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavours,” the statement said.

Ghanaians have expressed their sentiments pertaining to the ministerial reshuffle. While some have described it as untimely considering that it is barely 10 months to the general elections happening on December 07, others have opined that it is needless. With less than a year, considerably, little impact can  be made by such reshuffles.
