Ghanaian Actress, Martha Ankomah sues fellow Actor Kwadwo Nkasah popularly known as Lil Win, for defamation.

In a legal move that reverberated through Ghana's entertainment industry, actress Martha Ankomah has initiated legal proceedings against fellow actor Kwadwo Nkansah, famously known as Lil Win. Ankomah's lawsuit alleges defamation and seeks a significant compensation of Gh¢5 million, along with other damages. Central to her claim is a statement made by Lil Win that Ankomah argues has tarnished her reputation and that of the brand she represents, GTP.

The crux of the matter stems from comments made during a radio interview on Accra FM, where Ankomah expressed her reluctance to collaborate with Kumawood actors, citing disinterest in storylines revolving around witchcraft. Lil Win responded to Ankomah's statements, criticizing her stance. Ankomah contends that Lil Win's response, particularly his disparaging remarks, constitutes defamation and prompted her legal action.

Ankomah's legal filing highlights Lil Win's specific comments, which she deems defamatory. Among these are assertions questioning her status as a star and insinuating that her success is solely due to connections rather than merit. Furthermore, Lil Win's comments suggest that Ankomah relies on men for her success, perpetuating damaging stereotypes about her character and abilities as an actress.

The lawsuit seeks various forms of redress, including financial compensation, an apology, and a retraction of the defamatory statements. An injunction is also requested to prevent further dissemination of similar remarks. Ankomah's legal argument underscores her esteemed standing in the industry, built over more than two decades of dedicated work in both Ghanaian and Nigerian film productions.

Ankomah asserts that Lil Win's statements were made without provocation and were based on false premises, causing significant harm to her personal and professional reputation. The widespread circulation of these remarks on social media exacerbated the damage, leading to embarrassment and ridicule for Ankomah and adversely affecting her relationships within the industry.

Overall, Ankomah's legal action against Lil Win underscores the seriousness with which she views the impact of defamatory statements on her career and public image. Through this lawsuit, she aims to vindicate her reputation and uphold the integrity of her work in the face of damaging allegations.
