A project aimed at ensuring cleanliness and enhancing environmental hygiene across Ghana's 16 regions.

A program aimed at promoting cleanliness and enhancing environmental hygiene across Ghana's 16 regions is set to commence in Ho, located in the Volta region. The endeavor seeks to evaluate and compare the management of environmental sanitation, particularly concerning solid and liquid waste, in different regions.

Known as the "Cleanest Region Ranking Campaign," this initiative is a collaborative effort between the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL) and Zoomlion Ghana Limited. It represents the second phase of the National Sanitation Campaign, designed to acknowledge and incentivize the efforts of local government bodies, agencies, organizations, and communities in upholding clean surroundings.

Building upon the 2021 Graphic/Zoomlion National Sanitation Campaign, this year's initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal Six, which emphasizes universal access to clean water and sanitation. Given that inadequate sanitation practices contribute significantly to public health challenges in Ghana, exacerbated by habits such as indiscriminate waste disposal, the campaign aims to instill a culture of cleanliness.

The primary objective is to stimulate collective action toward fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment, while also fostering a sense of competition among regions to elevate cleanliness standards. This involves engaging communities, schools, businesses, and local organizations in activities such as cleanup drives, recycling initiatives, and tree planting projects.

Evaluation criteria for the Cleanest Region Ranking campaign will include factors like water quality, waste management strategies, presence of green spaces, and overall environmental awareness. The launch event, chaired by the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, will feature participation from the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, as well as representatives from Zoomlion Ghana Limited and the Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA).

GCGL has been actively promoting good sanitation practices among citizens, exemplified by the 'Clean Ghana Campaign' launched in collaboration with partners on April 28, 2021.

This initiative aims to complement government efforts in making Accra, and by extension, Ghana, the cleanest city and country in Africa.
