Nana Akomea, Vice Chairman of Dr. Bawumia’s Campaign Team, has swiftly addressed speculations surrounding potential clashes of egos within the team as they gear up for the December elections. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) unveiled the campaign team for its flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Monday, February 19, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming elections.
The campaign team lineup revealed Dr. Bawumia as the Chairman of the National Campaign Coordinating Committee, with Dan Botwe appointed as the Strategist/Chairman. Additionally, Dr. Gideon Boako was named as the party’s spokesperson for the 2024 campaign, while Dennis Edward Miracles Aboagye assumed the role of Director of Communications. These appointments followed the NPP’s National Executive Committee meeting held on the same day.
Amid concerns over potential clashes of egos due to the stature of individuals within the team, Nana Akomea reassured the public during an interview on Face to Face on Citi TV. He emphasized the diverse expertise and collective dedication of the team members, selected by the party’s flagbearer himself. Akomea underscored their commitment to cohesive teamwork, stating that decisions would be made collectively to leverage the strengths of each member.
Highlighting his past collaboration with Dan Botwe, Akomea described him as strong-willed yet collaborative, echoing sentiments of unity within the team. He expressed confidence that ego clashes would be mitigated through teamwork and collective decision-making.
Furthermore, Akomea, who also serves as the Managing Director of the State Transport Company (STC), dispelled concerns over ego clashes, affirming the team’s determination to secure victory for the party’s flagbearer in the upcoming elections.
Acknowledging the enthusiasm among team members, Akomea emphasized their satisfaction with the selection process. He reiterated their shared goal of ensuring Dr. Bawumia’s success in the 2024 elections.
The Campaign Advisory Committee, comprising notable figures such as former President John Agyekum Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, further underscores the party’s strategic approach to the campaign. Additional members, including prominent party figures and the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, round out the committee, demonstrating a concerted effort towards a unified campaign strategy.
