Asantewaa's GWR Sing-a-Thon attempt, the official GWR account confirmed that her effort was ultimately unsuccessful.

The journalist and entrepreneur from Ghana embarked on her Guinness World Records (GWR) singing marathon endeavor on December 24, 2023. Over the course of five days, she dedicated herself to singing for a total of 126 hours and 52 minutes. However, on Friday, February 23, 2024, in response to a post by Obaa Afya Hipsy regarding Asantewaa's GWR attempt, the official GWR account confirmed that her effort was ultimately unsuccessful. Despite her efforts, Asantewaa's bid for the GWR title did not meet the required criteria.

The GWR organization acknowledged the significant impact of Asantewaa's attempt on her fans and observers. Although her attempt fell short of success, the London-based GWR expressed appreciation for the inspiration it provided and wished her luck with any future record endeavors. They also disclosed that Asantewaa's payment for expedited evaluation had been refunded, as the evidence check had already commenced before her request for priority service.

The current standing record for the longest singing marathon stands at 105 hours, achieved by India's Sunil Waghmare in 2012.

Asantewaa's sing-a-thon, held at Akwaaba Village in Airport City, Accra, garnered significant attention and attendance from both citizens and celebrities, including a visit from the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Prior to the GWR's announcement, Asantewaa had hoped to secure five accolades with her historical performance in December 2023. These included the longest singing performance, the first Ghanaian and African female to sing continuously for five days, the longest-lasting musical event in Ghana and Africa, the first musical show to feature eight DJs performing continuously for five days, and the first female to attempt a singing marathon.

In an interview with Joy News and Accra 100.5 FM's after-drive program, Akwaaba, Asantewaa revealed her team's payment of US$750 to expedite the review process of her sing-a-thon evidence. She expressed optimism for positive results from the GWR, despite encountering challenges such as power outages during her attempt. Asantewaa emphasized the importance of multiple individuals attempting records in the same category, recognizing the possibility of minor issues leading to disqualification.

As of now, Asantewaa has not publicly commented on the news of her unsuccessful GWR attempt, as the specific reasons for her disqualification have not been disclosed by the GWR.
