Iwan, the acclaimed Reggae/Dancehall artist, recently shed light on the reasons behind the scarcity of collaborations among A-list musicians. During a candid discussion on Accra 100.5 FM's Akwaaba program, he revealed that he has faced rejection from several artists when extending collaboration offers.

In his conversation with host Summy Brown, Iwan pointed out that many artists who both perform and write their own songs, and excel in lyricism, tend to exhibit a sense of pride. Consequently, they often prefer collaborating only with individuals who possess similar qualities.

Moreover, Iwan highlighted concerns about potential overshadowing as another factor hindering collaborations. He explained that there is often apprehension about who will deliver the most impressive verse and possibly steal the spotlight on the track.

Expressing his disappointment with this competitive mindset, Iwan cited his own experience with Samini, a renowned artist in the industry. He recounted how he had pursued a collaboration with Samini early in his career, only to be turned down. However, as Iwan's career flourished independently, Samini eventually recognized his talent and success.

Reflecting on the competitive nature of the music industry, Iwan lamented the prevalence of power struggles and egos. Despite this, he emphasized his commitment to dispersing positive energy and collaborating with others, even if they have not reciprocated the gesture in the past.

Iwan also expressed his willingness to work with artists like Samini, emphasizing the significance of having a clean heart, as implied by his stage name, "Suhuyini," which means "one heart" in Dagomba.

As an alumnus of the University of Ghana, Legon, Iwan emphasized his longevity in the music industry, attributing it to his mindset of enduring the long haul rather than seeking short-term success. He expressed his determination to continue singing until his voice gives out, contrasting his approach with those who aim for fleeting fame.

Formerly known as "I Win Always Naturally," Iwan made history as the first-ever winner of a Reggae/Dancehall award in Ghana. He now prefers to be addressed as Iwan Suhuyini, reflecting his commitment to integrity and unity in his music career.
