Akufo-Addo, Ghana's president, has spoken out in response to demands that he sign a bill that would outlaw the LGBTQI+ community. Parliament enacted a contentious anti-LGBTQ+ bill, and the president has stated that he will wait for the Supreme Court's verdict before deciding what to do about it. At the New Year's greetings event with members of the Diplomatic Corps at Peduase, President Akufo-Addo addressed concerns raised by some in the diplomatic community and friends of Ghana regarding the possibility that Ghana may be abandoning her longstanding record of respect for human rights and adherence to the rule of law.
He acknowledged that last week's bipartisan passage of the Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill by Parliament on a private member's motion had this effect. I want to make it clear that we will not tolerate or allow any kind of relapse.Since this bill has not yet made it to my desk, I do not think it is necessary to go into detail about where it came from. But I've learned today that a concerned citizen has challenged the planned legislation's constitutionality before the Supreme Court. Enough said.We should all just sit tight and wait for the court to rule before doing anything, given the current situation. The future of human rights compliance and the rule of law in Ghana is dependent on how the state's institutions function.

Zoom: It is bound to happen... Akufo-Addo said. For him, he wouldn't sign it if the NPP wasn't sponsoring it. In actuality, the LGBTQI+ community sponsors NPP and its members are gay. They promote it, and Bawumiya, their female bearer, supports guys and lesbians.
Ghan: This man is playing with God's judgment and the wrath on Ghana. He must be careful. Ghanaians must be careful, as must those who want to assist him. The right thing must be done for the people of Ghana. Judgement is about to fall in Ghana if LGBT people are accepted there. The president must do the right thing for Ghana.
Kwame: Look at this man!! When the e-levy was unscrupulously passed and the NDCC took it to the Supreme Court, didn't you sign before your Supreme Court gave a verdict?
Oppong: If this is the President's position, I'm sorry for Ghana because the bill hasn't become law yet, making it impossible for someone to challenge it at the Supreme Court. So what's the president thinking with all his advisors?
Alfred: LGBTQI SUPPORTER WHO TOLD GOD HE WILL BUILD A CATHEDRAL FOR HIM. TRUMU TRUMU CATHEDRAL OR WHAT? TRUMU ASK YOURSELF WHETHER GOD SUPPORTS TRUMU. UMU. YOU HAVE PACKED THE SUPREME WITH YOUR TOYS TO DO YOUR BIDDING. This means you won't sign the bill. There is time for everything.
