As a woman and as an elder,
I look upon this world,
As I burn my sage
I think about the life before women’s rights
In a patriarchal world of demise
Before women’s rights
We were not recognized as smart.
Most of our culture in America
Believed there was one husband, one wife,
To carry out their strife
Together
I remember those days of living in a patriarchal world
Of despair
Whether
one knows we need to promote more equality in this world.
Women have come extremely far since the 1800s
when women were second-class citizens.
But there is much more we need to do to promote women’s rights in every culture and nationality around the globe.
Women had charge of their bodies until the Supreme Court disabled Roe vs. Wade in 2022. Now we must start the fight all over again to regain control of our bodies from men, patriarchal society, and the anti-women Supreme Court.
Where do we go from here?
I shed a tear
The day
Roe vs, Wade was overturned to please the minority population in our country. I will continue my strife and fight to promote women’s rights and LBGTQ rights.
I want my two beautiful granddaughters to grow up in control of their bodies
And to have multiple career choices
Of a vast world of thought
And critical thinking skills
Gaining knowledge of Science, Health, Medicine, Law, Journalism, and the list goes onto
Present a world of opportunity for all women not just the wealthy to do.
Women can be anything they choose to be.
I choose to be me.
I love reading, music, art, film and so much more.
So, let us continue our fight
To promote women’s rights
We live.
We learn.
We love.
We create.
To fight is not to get physical, but to study hard, to pursue one’s goals either to be a doctor, nurse, journalist, actor, musician, artist, chemist, gymnast, dancer, or a psychologist of life.
We strive to cooperate with society to invigorate our life
To know who we are as women;
To live
To learn
To love
To create.
