Manchester United kept their hopes for a trophy alive this season and halted Liverpool's pursuit of four titles with a thrilling extra-time victory in an FA Cup quarter-final clash at Old Trafford.

In a match filled with drama, substitute Amad Diallo emerged as the hero for Erik ten Hag's side, scoring a dramatic goal in the dying moments of extra time to secure victory and send the Stretford End into jubilation. However, Diallo's joy was short-lived as he received a second yellow card for his exuberant celebrations and was subsequently sent off.

The euphoria surrounding Diallo's decisive strike encapsulated the excitement of the match, with United manager Ten Hag celebrating wildly as the ball found the back of the net past Liverpool keeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

United displayed their determination to reach the semi-finals at Wembley with a blistering start, taking an early lead through Scott McTominay's close-range finish in the 10th minute, following Alejandro Garnacho's shot being parried by Kelleher.

Despite Kelleher denying McTominay a second goal from a similar position, Liverpool quickly turned the game on its head with two goals in three minutes just before half-time. Alexis Mac Allister's deflected shot drew Liverpool level, while Mohamed Salah capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Liverpool ahead with his 13th goal in 14 appearances against United.

Liverpool continued to create chances after the break, but United fought back with substitute Antony leveling the scoreline with a composed finish three minutes from the end of regular time. Marcus Rashford then squandered a glorious opportunity to win the game, somehow missing an open goal.

In extra time, substitute Harvey Elliott restored Liverpool's lead with a deflected strike from distance, before Rashford redeemed himself with another equalizer to set up a thrilling finale, with Diallo ultimately emerging as the hero.

The pulsating encounter showcased the intensity and drama of cup football, with both teams giving their all in pursuit of victory. For United, the win keeps their hopes of silverware alive, while Liverpool's quest for a quadruple comes to an end in dramatic fashion.
