LAWYER SAMMY GYAMFI EDUCATES AND EXPOSES NPP PROPAGANDIST, KROBEA KWABENA ASANTE, ON SCHOOLS UNDER TREES
My attention has been drawn to two Facebook posts, made by one NPP propagandist by name, Krobea Kwabena Asante purporting to dispute my factual assertion that, the erstwhile NDC government, eliminated over 3,000 schools under trees between the year 2009 to 2016.
The basis of his claim is that the 2016 budget statement, captured a figure of 1,714 at paragraph 651, as the total number of schools under trees eliminated by the NDC between 2009 and 2016.
Now here are the simple facts that the said NPP propagandist failed to appreciate:
1. The 2016 budget statement was presented to Parliament on 13th November, 2015. This date is apparent on the front page of the 2016 budget statement. (Find attached, a screenshot of the front page of the 2016 budget that captures the date the budget was read in Parliament).
2. It should therefore be obvious even to the uninitiated, that a budget statement presented in the year 2015, could not have given a comprehensive account of the total number of schools under trees eliminated by the erstwhile NDC government by the end of 2016.
3. More importantly, it is clearly stated in the 2016 budget, specifically, the sub-heading between paragraph 624 and 625, that the performance figures reported under the Education sector, relate to *”performance in 2015 and outlook for 2016”.* (find attached, a screenshot of the relevant portion of the 2016 budget statement).
4. Thus, the figure captured at paragraph 651 of the 2016 budget (1,714) does not relate to the total number of schools under trees eliminated between 2009-2016. This should be obvious to any objective mind who can read and appreciate simple sentences.
5. How come, that our all-knowing NPP friends missed this basic information? Clearly, a little diligence and meticulousness would have spared Krobea and our NPP friends this embarrassment. Sadly, in their indecent haste and desperation to discredit people like us, they fail to pay attention to detail and end up making a mockery of themselves. They certainly have to try harder.
6. As I indicated earlier, it’s an indisputable fact that the NDC eliminated more than 3,000 schools under trees between 2009-2016. This was captured in the 2013 SONA and the evidence-based green book on the Education sector published by the Ministry of Education in the year 2016. To put the figure above 2,000, is just me being conservative.
7. In all this, it does appear that our NPP friends prefer to debate us on whether or not, the NDC eliminated over 3000 or 1,714 schools under trees, instead of telling us the number of schools under trees that their government has eliminated since assuming office in 2017. Interesting
