SERWAA AMIHERE PAID A RANSOM OF GH¢20k TO PREVENT HER LEAKED VIDEO

Henry Fitz, along with two accomplices, has been formally charged by law enforcement for their involvement in disseminating a compromising video featuring media personality Serwaa Amihere on social media. The legal action was prompted by a complaint filed by Amihere herself.

According to court documents, Serwaa Amihere attempted to prevent the video's circulation by paying a ransom of GH¢20,000 to the accused trio. However, despite receiving the payment, they proceeded to share the video online. The charges brought against them include conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically the non-consensual distribution of intimate content, as outlined in Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29), and violations of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038), particularly Section 67(1)(2).

Furthermore, the accused are accused of extorting an additional GH¢20,000 from Amihere under threat of publicly broadcasting the compromising material. The other individuals implicated in the case are identified as Edem Saviour Ketti, a filmmaker, and Candylove Kwakyewaa Ababio, a trader. Notably, Henry Amponsah, also known as Henry Fitz, remains at large according to law enforcement authorities.

The charges against the accused encompass four counts, including conspiracy to distribute intimate material, non-consensual dissemination of intimate content, and sexual extortion. Details provided alongside the charge sheet reveal that on December 3, 2023, Amihere's makeup artist informed her of demands for GH¢5,000 to prevent the release of compromising images. The demanded sum was to be transferred to an MTN mobile money account registered under the name Edem Saviour Ketti.

Additionally, on April 2, 2024, another demand for GH¢20,000 was made under threat of posting the compromising videos online. Despite compliance with the ransom demands, the videos and images were still circulated on social media platforms. Amihere lodged a formal complaint on April 3, 2024, leading to Ketti's arrest.

During interrogation, Ketti confessed to using his Ghana Card to register the specified mobile money account and subsequently passing it on to Candylove, who in turn provided it to Fitz. Law enforcement agencies are actively pursuing Fitz to ensure he is held accountable for his actions in accordance with the law.
