 Naana Opoku Agyeman Portraits a Vessel of Honor. Tain NDC Women Organizer praises running mate.


Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang  is a Ghanaian academic and politician who served as Minister for Education from February 2013 to January 2017. She is a full professor of literature.


The Tain constituency women organizer for National Democratic Congress (NDC), Gloria Amponsah Gyan (Yaa Asantewaa), has praised the flag bearer and the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s choice of a woman as running mate in the upcoming December 2024 election. 


According to the women organizer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman is the ideal candidate to be given the mandate with valiant to assist former president John Dramani Mahama to abate the current circumstances in the country.


In a statement on Fabea FM "Me Man Ho Dadwen", Madam Gloria emphasized that Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman embodies both authority and authenticity, making her an excellent fit for the role as vice president.


She highlighted the importance of Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman's selection for the country's development, stating that there is no better person for the job as she (Naana Jane) portraits a vessel of honor.


She reiterated the need for strong leadership, particularly in adding women in such empowerment and representation. 


She argued that having a woman in such a significant role is essential for advancing gender equality and fostering inclusive governance.


Madam Gloria concluded by felicitate and craved her support for Prof. Naana Opoku-Agyeman as the NDC's running mate, emphasizing the strength and depth of her candidacy.


“Her record is impressive, and in a country where gender equality remains a distant dream for many, Naana Jane's rise to political prominence sends a powerful message of empowerment and representation to women", Gloria emphasized.


She served as the first female Vice-Chancellor of a state university in Ghana when she took over as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast. She currently serves as the Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa.


"As the first female Vice Chancellor of a Ghanaian institution, she broke down many barriers, paving the way for many women”, she added.


Again in 2024 Ghanaian presidential election, she is going to partner with John Mahama as his running mate on the NDC party ticket. John Mahama made an official declaration of Opoku-Agyeman as his running mate on 24th April, 2024.


Her selection by the flagbearer, John Mahama of the National Democratic Congress was applauded by women groups and women activists as a positive sign to the Ghanaian political scene to promote gender balance and equality.
