Serie A Matchweek 35: Sassuolo Complete the Double over Inter, Udinese Rescue a Late Draw
Rome, Italy - Matchweek 35 of Serie A was filled with drama and excitement, as Sassuolo completed the double over Inter Milan, Udinese rescued a late draw against Spezia, and plenty more action unfolded across Italy.
Sassuolo 2-1 Inter Milan
Sassuolo pulled off a stunning upset by defeating Inter Milan 2-1 at the Mapei Stadium. The Neroverdi had already beaten Inter 2-1 earlier in the season, and they repeated the feat thanks to goals from Armand Lauriente and Davide Frattesi. Lautaro Martinez scored a late consolation goal for Inter, but it was not enough to prevent them from dropping three points.
The victory was a major boost for Sassuolo's hopes of finishing in the top half of the table. They are now in 10th place with 46 points, just two points behind Torino in ninth.
Udinese 2-2 Spezia
Udinese came from behind to rescue a 2-2 draw against Spezia at the Dacia Arena. Spezia took a shock lead through Daniele Verde in the first half, but Udinese equalized through Beto in the second half. Spezia then regained the lead through M'Bala Nzola, but Udinese fought back once again to earn a point thanks to a late goal from Isaac Success.
The draw leaves Udinese in eighth place with 47 points, while Spezia remain in 15th place with 33 points.
Other Results
In other Serie A Matchweek 35 action, Lazio defeated Sampdoria 2-0, Atalanta beat Empoli 2-1, and Bologna drew 1-1 with Torino.
Top of the Table
Napoli remain top of the table with 85 points, 15 points clear of second-placed Inter Milan. AC Milan are in third place with 68 points, while Juventus are in fourth place with 66 points.
Bottom of the Table
Cremonese remain bottom of the table with 12 points, while Sampdoria are in 19th place with 24 points. Verona are in 18th place with 28 points, and Spezia are in 15th place with 33 points.
