Actor and film producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, affectionately called Lilwin, has said that he does not look forward to making any profit from the premiere of his new movie titled ‘A Country Called Ghana.’
According to him, the movie was produced out of passion, and he wants all Ghanaians, especially those who do not have access to the digital platforms or cannot afford them, to watch the movie during the premiere.
For this reason, he is not worried about not making financial gains from his upcoming premieres.
While speaking in an interview with Asieduwaa Akumia on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning show, he said: “I won’t earn anything the premieres. Even if we premiere the movie ten (10) times, I won’t benefit any profit."
However, his major aim is for the movie to gain international traction and be featured on global platforms, including Netflix and Amazon, where he will profit.
Despite the costs he has incurred in producing the movie, Lilwin is determined to prove to Ghanaians the quality of the movie, especially considering the controversy surrounding the production process. He aims to ensure that the efforts of the crew are recognized.
The actor also disclosed that the movie will premiere in all sixteen (16) regions across the country due to the hard work that was put into its production.
“Due to how Ghanaians have supported the movie from the beginning up to now, I want everyone to watch it. So, I’ll go to all 16 regions; if not, most of them won’t have the privilege to watch it. If I don’t premiere it in all the regions, the majority of people will not watch it,” he said.
He plans to embark on another three-session premiere in other regions after conducting the first sessions within Accra, Kumasi, and Sunyani.
Meanwhile, the Kumasi-based actor and producer is set to hold his first premiere in Accra on Friday, May 17 at the National Theatre, and subsequently on May 25 and June 1 in Kumasi and Sunyani, respectively.
