The Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has energized the party in the Ashanti Region with a lively tour led by the National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, from Wednesday, April 17 to Saturday, April 20.
Joined by youth organizers from the regional and constituency levels, as well as other youth leaders, Salam Mustapha led a series of meetings and events. The tour included media appearances to explain why the Ashanti Region should support Dr. Bawumia in about 13 constituencies.
In each constituency, the team met with youth groups to boost support for the party’s 2024 campaign. They focused on getting votes and encouraging active participation in campaign activities. They also promoted the endorsement of the party’s parliamentary candidates in all the constituencies.
The tour visited places like Bosome Freho, Juaben, Agona, Ejura, Kwabre East, Ejisu, Old Tafo, Manhyia South, Manhyia North, Oforikrom, and Bantama, with mini rallies held in some areas.
Salam Mustapha stressed the importance of making informed choices in the 2024 elections. During media appearances, he compared the records of the main candidates, calling Dr. Bawumia a visionary and attentive leader in contrast to John Mahama.
He argued that Dr. Bawumia is the best choice, highlighting his vision and responsiveness. He urged the region to support Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing his integrity compared to the corruption allegations against John Mahama.
Besides political advocacy, Salam Mustapha and his team also educated first-time voters in the Ashanti Region on how to take part in the limited voter registration exercise from May 7 to May 27.
The tour was created to teach youth groups how to canvass for voters effectively. They learned how to talk to voters, respond to their concerns, and share important information. The program focused on practical, hands-on training to build their confidence and skills. Because this tour was successful, there are plans to do more tours in other areas. The goal is to give more young people these important skills to help increase voter participation and engagement in their communities.
