THIS MAY CAUSE OUR DEFEAT: AFENYO MARKIN SADLY REACTS TO THE NAMING OF OPOKU PREMPEH AS RUNNING MATE

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader in parliament, has cautioned fellow party members and supporters against internal strife in advance of the announcement of the party's running mate. After discussing his preferred running mate pick behind closed doors in the Jubilee House with President Nana Akufo Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reportedly stated: There are rumors that Bawumia proposed Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the party's preferred vice presidential candidate to President Nana Akufo Addo.

The announcement of Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's running partner has led to open dissatisfaction among certain members of the ruling party, suggesting that the news is causing division within the party. Asante Akim North MP Opoku Prempeh claims that the NPP base as a whole, and MPs in particular, do not approve of the Energy Minister and that he is unable to run an effective campaign in numerous areas.

Speaking on TV3, Andy Appiah-Kubi stated that if it had been up to him, he would not have selected Opoku Prempeh as his running mate and that, in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's absence, he lacked the necessary skills to lead the nation and the party. Although no firm decision has yet been made, the majority leader has advised his colleagues to exercise caution in their remarks.

There is no such person who no one would have problems with if chosen for the position, he reminded his fellow NPP Members of Parliament, while also warning them about the impact of disparaging remarks on the party's prospects in the next general elections. Since the party structures are in place and no choice has been made regarding running mates to complement our ticket, I would want to reassure my fellow MPs that we are in this together. Nobody in this world is perfect. We should use caution while describing one another, making statements about our colleagues, approaching situations, and using language because none of us can check every box. It could be ineffective. All I have to say is that. Effutu MP declared, "Be measured in the language we use."
