Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite, Leny Yoro: Manchester United working on three centre-back transfers:

Manchester United is working on three centre-back transfers: Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite, and Leny Yoro. De Ligt is a strong option, and Everton rejected a second bid for Branthwaite. United remains interested in Lille's Yoro, despite his preference for Real Madrid.

Matthijs de Ligt, a defender for Bayern Munich, is still a viable choice. The 24-year-old is eager to join and their negotiations have gone well.

De Ligt competed for Ajax, who won the Eredivisie in 2019, under Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United.

After two offers were turned down for Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite, United is now debating whether to make another attempt.

Everton rejected the most recent bid, which was said to be worth £45 million plus an additional £5 million.

Leny Yoro, a defender for Lille, would want to go to Real Madrid, but United isn't ready to give up on him in a third possible trade.

Lille, however, would prefer that Yoro relocate to Old Trafford because Real has not yet matched United's bid, despite United having met their £42 million (€50 million) asking price.

Yoro, 18, made his first-team debut in May 2022 after going through Lille's development system. He made 44 appearances for Lille last season, which finished fourth in Ligue 1.

Although adding more than one of De Ligt, Branthwaite, and Yoro will depend on departures, United would prefer to sign at least one of them.
Since joining Bayern Munich from Juventus two seasons ago, De Ligt, 24, has played 73 games and scored five goals.

Branthwaite was left off of England's preliminary Euro 2024 roster, despite the fact that he featured 35 times for Everton in the previous season.

Raphael Varane left the team after his contract expired, and United wants to bring someone in to take his place.

The future of Victor Lindelof may be crucial. The protector has moved in.
