*Akufo Addo-Bawumia Government Overpaid More Than GH¢2M To School Feeding Caterers, Pen-Robbers at Work - William Boadi, EAI*

In recent months, Ghana has been rocked by alarming allegations of fiscal mismanagement and corruption under the Akufo Addo-Bawumia administration. A recent report has revealed an overpayment of Gh¢2 million to school feeding caterers between 2017 and 2022. This revelation not only underscores the government's failure to uphold its promises of prudent financial management but also highlights a glaring disregard for public trust.

When assuming office, President Nana Addo-Bawumia vowed to protect the public purse and ensure transparency in governance. However, the reality on the ground tells a different story. The term "Pen-Robbers" has been coined to describe officials who exploit their positions of power to legally siphon public funds, damaging public confidence and staining Ghana's reputation. This misallocation of resources is particularly distressing in a country blessed with abundant natural wealth, where vital services like school feeding programs are essential for supporting vulnerable schoolchildren.

These actions have far-reaching consequences beyond financial losses. They directly impact Ghana's most vulnerable citizens—the schoolchildren who depend on these meals for their nutrition and educational well-being. Mismanagement not only deprives these children of crucial support but also perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality. As concerned citizens, it is imperative that we hold our leaders accountable and demand heightened transparency and integrity in governance. Only through such measures can we ensure that Ghana's resources are managed responsibly and equitably for the benefit of all its people.

Educate Africa Institute (EAI) expresses deep concern over these developments and calls for immediate accountability. We stand united in prioritizing the interests of Ghana and its citizens.
