Nkoranza youth for Lordina Mahama setting the record straight that she's innocent in the DKM Microfinance Saga.
It would be recalled that in 2015 the Bank of Ghana (BOG) suspended the operations of the above two companies (DKM and Care for Humanity) and some others for flouting the rules governing the operations of the microfinance business in the country.
The action revealed loss of cash deposits by thousands of Ghanaians who had invested in those companies. The customers affected by those banks have been neglected by the current government after they were promised by New Patriotic Party (NPP) prior to the 2016 elections to help them retrieve their locked up money if voted into power. The customers are highly disappointed in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for not fulfilling its 2016 Campaign promise.
The Nkoranza Youth for Mrs. Lordina Mahama have come out in a press conference on Thursday, 25th July, 2024 at Nkoranza to clear the name of Her Excellency Lordina Mahama, former First Lady of Ghana regarding her alleged involvement in the DKM microfinance issue.
They assert that Lordina Mahama has no ownership or shares in DKM contrary to false propaganda spread by the NPP in 2016.
According to the Nkoranza Youth for Lordina Mahama led by Mustapha Muhammed, the Bono East Regional communications officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP had claimed that Lordina Mahama and her husband, John Dramani Mahama, were involved in the collapse of DKM and used deposited monies to fund the NDC's 2016 campaign.
However, these claims have been debunked by the Nkoranza Youth for Lordina Mahama who point to a report by ModernGhana.com on January 15, 2016 citing a Bank of Ghana report that clears Lordina Mahama of any involvement.
The Nkoranza Youth for Lordina Mahama also highlighted how the NPP minority caucus staged a press conference on February 3, 2016 making false claims about Lordina Mahama's involvement in the microfinance scheme.
They noted that the NDC under John Dramani Mahama's leadership, initiated processes to refund monies to affected customers but the NPP took advantage of the situation to spread lies and propaganda.
Furthermore, the Nkoranza Youth revealed that NPP members who spearheaded the propaganda against Lordina Mahama were rewarded with positions and assets, while Lordina Mahama has never been invited to discuss the issue since the NPP took power in 2017 indicating her innocence.
In a shocking twist, the Nkoranza Youth alleged that Martin Dele, the owner of DKM was set free and is now financing Dr. Mahamud Bawumia's campaign, with 46 people committing suicide due to the loss of their funds in the microfinance.
The Nkoranza Youth emphasize that Lordina Mahama as the Nkosuorhemaa of Nkoranza traditional area would never engage in such activities and that her stool name, Nana Akosua Ampoma Frema I, remains untarnished.
They call on the public to disregard the false propaganda and recognize Lordina Mahama's innocence in the DKM microfinance saga.
