In Osogbo, a shocking murder has left the community in disbelief. Kehinde Ganiyu, a resident of Ogun, has confessed to killing his Ghanaian friend in a gruesome ritual act. The Osun State Police Command, led by spokesperson SP Yemisi Opalola, revealed the disturbing details during a press briefing at their headquarters.

On July 9, Ganiyu went to his friend's home armed with a kitchen knife. He found his friend asleep and defenseless, as he was unwell. Ganiyu slaughtered him and removed his throat. After the murder, he dried the throat for three days. He then took it to a bush area known as Igbo Imese Aiwosi in Oba-Oke village, where he burned it with other ritual items in a clay pot. The ashes were mixed with soap for a money ritual called Osole.

Ganiyu confessed to committing the crime alone, but the investigation is still ongoing to uncover more details and any possible accomplices.

The Osun State Police Command has been active in apprehending various criminal suspects. A 60-year-old blacksmith from Ada town was arrested for fabricating single-barrel guns and supplying ammunition to criminals. During his arrest, two of his customers were also detained.

In Ikire town, police arrested two suspects for armed robbery and kidnapping. Another individual was apprehended in Ipetumodu for robbing a woman and inflicting machete wounds on her.

A suspected motorcycle thief was caught with a modified gun found in his residence. In Ile-Ife, two suspects were discovered with locally-made guns at a known criminal hideout.

A tiler in Ede town was arrested while carrying four bags of cement, which he admitted to stealing from a construction site where he was employed.

A medical doctor is under arrest for allegedly raping a woman he promised employment. This case is still under investigation, with the police gathering more evidence.

A herder and his brother are facing charges after failing to deliver 54 cows, despite receiving payment. Instead, they used the money to build a house.

SP Opalola urged residents to remain vigilant and assist the police by providing useful information to prevent crime. She assured that all suspects would face justice once investigations are concluded.

These incidents highlight the ongoing efforts of the Osun State Police Command to maintain law and order in the region. The community remains on high alert, hoping for a swift resolution to these troubling cases.
