In a recent attack, suspected Boko Haram terrorists targeted the Jakana Police Station in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State. According to security sources, the insurgents arrived at the police station around 1:00 a.m. and launched a surprise attack. In the process, they set fire to two patrol vehicles and a motorcycle.
The destroyed vehicles included one belonging to the police and another used by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), a local group assisting security forces in combating Boko Haram. The loss of these vehicles adds to the challenges faced by security personnel in the region.
Hon. Abbas Ali Abari, the Chairman of Konduga Local Government, confirmed the attack to journalists. He assured the public that more details would be provided as soon as they were available. Efforts to obtain a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer of Borno State, Nahun Kenneth, were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls or messages.
Jakana is a town located along the Damaturu-Maiduguri expressway, approximately 45 kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. This area has been a frequent target of Boko Haram due to its strategic location and the ongoing conflict in the region.
