A 50-year-old herbalist named Kehinde Ganiyu has been arrested for the murder of his friend, Emmanuel Collins, a Ghanaian national. The gruesome act was allegedly carried out to create a ritual soap intended for internet fraudsters, commonly known as ‘sakawa’ in Ghana.

The incident occurred last Thursday in Oba-Oke, a community within the Olorunda local government area of Osun State. The Osun State Police Command paraded Ganiyu, revealing chilling details of the crime.

During a press briefing on Friday, July 26, the Police Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, disclosed that Ganiyu was found in possession of several incriminating items. These included four blood-stained knives, a chisel, two gourds, a wooden traditional pot containing black soap, two sponges with black soap, a traditional tray (Opon Ifa), and various local charms.

In a shocking confession, Ganiyu admitted to killing his close friend to make ritual soap, which is believed to bring financial success to internet fraudsters. "I visited my friend, Emmanuel Collins, because he was sick. While he was in bed, I took a knife and cut his throat. I used the part to prepare ritual money soap for Yahoo boys [known in Ghana as sakawa]," Ganiyu confessed.

Describing himself as both a herbalist and a farmer, Ganiyu further revealed that he had made similar rituals for internet fraudsters before, but the human parts were usually provided by the fraudsters themselves. "I used to make such rituals for Yahoo boys, but they usually brought the human parts. This time, I sourced the part myself," he stated.

In a shocking turn of events, after committing the murder, Ganiyu attended the funeral of his friend, Emmanuel Collins. "I regret my action because I also attended his burial, but suspicion and police investigation led to my arrest. I can't believe I killed my long-time friend," Ganiyu cried, expressing his remorse.

The arrest has sent shockwaves through the community of Oba-Oke, with many residents expressing their disbelief and horror at the incident. The ritual killing for internet fraud has brought to light the extreme measures some individuals are willing to take in pursuit of wealth.

The Osun State Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served. "We are committed to ensuring that justice is done in this case. The suspect will be charged to court and made to face the full wrath of the law," said Yemisi Opalola.
