Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has thrown his support behind Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his campaign for the presidency. Asamoah Gyan joined Dr. Bawumia and other members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a health walk in Akropong, in the Eastern Region of Ghana, on Saturday.
The event saw thousands of enthusiastic supporters coming out to back the NPP. Asamoah Gyan’s presence and active participation added an extra layer of excitement to the occasion.
Addressing the crowd, Asamoah Gyan expressed his confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to the youth of Ghana. He shared insights from a personal conversation he had with the Vice President earlier that day. “I’ll keep my message very short. I stand for the youth. I was speaking to the Vice President this morning, and I asked him what he has for the youth,” Asamoah Gyan said.
Asamoah Gyan revealed that during their one-on-one meeting, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his focus on youth development. “He told me his focus is mainly on the youth. So I told him to help the youth for me so that everything would fall into place,” Asamoah Gyan added.
In addition to their conversation, Asamoah Gyan highlighted a significant gesture by Dr. Bawumia. The Vice President appointed Asamoah Gyan to chair his manifesto committee on youth and sports. This role, according to Asamoah Gyan, is a strong indicator of Dr. Bawumia’s genuine commitment to addressing the needs and aspirations of young people in Ghana.
