MY DREAM

I met my wife after completing my national service through a friend, and we started dating while she was in her final year of nursing school.

Just three months before her graduation, she visited me, and one night I had a dream in which I saw her being carried into a pit. She was wearing a red floral dress, and three women were carrying her. When I asked where they were taking her, they pointed to the pit. I quickly ran and took her from their grasp, and that was how the dream ended. I didn't share this dream with her.

During her next visit to my place, she fell ill and was admitted to the hospital. I would cook and bring food to her, spending daytime hours with her there. She asked me not to inform her family, as they were unaware that she had come to visit me.

On the second day in the hospital, a test was conducted, and they informed me that she had HIV. The test took place while I was absent, and I learned the news when I came to serve her lunch. She wept uncontrollably on the hospital bed. My mind immediately flashed back to the dream, and I tried to calm her down.

They discharged us in the evening, and she said she was going to school that very day. I quickly called her sister to inform her about the situation. She advised me not to leave, as my wife might hurt herself. There were tears everywhere in the room. I remember that once we got to my place, my wife suggested we break up, but I told her that it wasn't the appropriate time for such decisions.

I believed that the enemy saw something good in us and wanted to keep us apart. She came from a background of idol worship, and she had told me about certain challenges in her family regarding her elder sisters' marriages, which had collapsed. Therefore, I recognized this situation as one of the attacks referenced in my dream.

I shared the dream I had the previous week with her. The following morning, I told her I was going to check my status, but instead, I took a walk to town and returned, lying that my test result was negative so she should not worry. I brought food for us to eat together, but she refused, saying that she couldn't eat with me because of her HIV status. I called her uncle, and he prayed for and counseled her.

We went for a second test at a different lab, and the results were different. We went for another test, and it came back negative. At that moment, we started to feel relieved, filled with prayers.

When she returned to school, she took another test in that town, and the result was also negative. She visited me again, and we enjoyed our time together. She graduated and moved in with me. At an all-night service, her pastor told her that marriage was coming her way and that it would relocate her to a different country.

I quickly performed the customary rites and got nominated by the organization I was working with for fellowship training in North America. I went for training and returned. Years later, I got a second chance to go to the same country for a likely permanent stay. I am now working on bringing her and the kids over. Then I will remind her of the dream and the supposed HIV that the enemy wanted to use to scatter us.

One day, she mentioned that before meeting me, she used to fall sick quite often, but now, after ten years together this year with two beautiful kids, my wife has never fallen ill, even during her two pregnancies.

I have had several dreams that have manifested in reality, and because of that, my wife sometimes calls me a prophet or a wiz. she jokingly says that if we weren’t Catholics, we could have opened our own church, as most of the things I tell her, whether about us or about other people, usually come to pass.
