Raheem Sterling issued an urgent warning regarding United's recent transfer failure.
Manchester United has been linked with a surprise bid for Chelsea misfit. Raheem Sterling faces the transfer window deadline, and one Premier League icon has pushed the sensation to depart.

Premier League legend Tony Cottee has advised Raheem Sterling to quit Chelsea amid speculation about a trade deadline day frenzy.

Sterling's future at Chelsea is uncertain, with reports of interest from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal. The out-of-favour forward has not been called up for any of Chelsea's opening three games of the new season, with new manager Enzo Maresca seems content to prosper without the seasoned winger.

But unloading Sterling could be difficult, especially given his high weekly salary of £325,000, which may put off many suitors. United would be one of the few teams that could perhaps afford such a deal, albeit their coffers are said to be rather empty following a busy summer of their own.

With Chelsea strengthening their attack with the additions of Joao Felix and Pedro Neto, and Noni Madueke shining with a hat-trick against Wolves, Sterling will face stronger competition than ever before. Cottee, an ex-West Ham and Everton striker, has recommended Sterling should try to relocate.

Discussing Sterling's situation in collaboration with Altenar, Cottee said: "I think Arsenal would be a terrific move for him, without a doubt," adding, "Whether Arsenal want him or need him is a separate thing. I think Raheem should play football. He's 29, and you should be playing your best football at that age.

"He still has his pace and experience. He started playing at an early age and has played for some fantastic clubs. But, in the end, earning £325,000 each week is satisfactory...People generally think footballers play for the money; they don't. They play for their own personal pride, their team, and "I want to win something."
