Carlo Ancelotti admits Real Madrid need to find “solutions” following Las Palmas draw

Real Madrid's struggles continued with a 1-1 draw against Las Palmas, marking their second consecutive away game without a win. The match at Estadio Gran Canaria saw Las Palmas earn a deserved point, which raised concerns for Real Madrid's manager, Carlo Ancelotti. After the match, Ancelotti did not shy away from criticizing his team's performance, particularly in the first half.

Ancelotti acknowledged that Real Madrid are currently finding it difficult to score and maintain balance on the pitch. He admitted that the team is suffering, lacking quick ball recovery and efficient circulation, which were issues evident in their previous game against Mallorca. Ancelotti was candid in his assessment, expressing that there has been no noticeable improvement and that a quick solution is urgently needed. He also recognized that the team has not been able to replicate the solidity they had last season, but he emphasized that there should be no excuses. With a tight schedule and another match looming on Sunday against Real Betis, Ancelotti stressed the importance of quickly finding clarity in their strategy.

One of the major concerns is the form of Kylian Mbappé, who has now gone three La Liga matches without a goal. Ancelotti admitted that he needs to figure out how to get the best out of Mbappé and the rest of his players. He took responsibility, stating that when there is a problem, it is up to the coach to find a solution.

Ancelotti will likely be looking forward to the upcoming international break as an opportunity to address these issues on the training ground. However, before that, Real Madrid will face a tough test against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 1-1 draw against Las Palmas, where Real Madrid managed only one win in their last three La Liga games, highlighted several concerns. Las Palmas took the lead with a well-placed finish from Alberto Moleiro, but Vinícius Jr equalized in the second half from the penalty spot. Despite scoring, Vinícius Jr, along with Mbappé, had a frustrating night.

Both players, who were expected to form a formidable attacking partnership, have been underwhelming in recent matches. The observation that they seem more focused on outshining each other rather than playing cohesive football has become a point of frustration. While it is understandable that they are still adjusting to playing together, the lack of effective link-up play is concerning. In the first game against Atalanta, there were promising moments of collaboration between Mbappé and Vinícius Jr, but this has not carried over into the league campaign.

Instead, the duo appears to be engaged in a silent competition, trying to be the standout player, which has detracted from the team's overall performance. This individualistic approach has been detrimental, as they often miss opportunities to combine effectively when one is on the ball and the other is in a good position. The potential for a dynamic partnership is there, as both players have expressed their desire to play together, but it is not translating onto the pitch at the moment.

Real Madrid's struggles are not solely down to the performances of Vinícius Jr and Mbappé, but their inability to play as a cohesive unit is certainly contributing to the team's current difficulties. Ancelotti will need to address this issue if Real Madrid are to get back on track and compete at the highest level.
