Barcelona have been scrambling in the final days of the transfer market in order to try and cover the injury of Marc Bernal. The 17-year-old has had a tidy start to his season, making three starts, but has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

A loan move for Stefan Bajcetic at Liverpool fell through with Barcelona unable to provide financial guarantees to La Liga, and their salary limit situation is set to rule out another arrival. Fabrizio Romano has commented on The Daily Briefing that Adrien Rabiot‘s salary would likely be four times that of Bajcetic’s, and thus any deal currently is impossible.

The 29-year-old French midfielder has been frequently linked with the Blaugrana over recent years, and is a free agent after leaving Juventus. Romano says that Rabiot is still awaiting the right opportunity though. If Barcelona were to be able to move for him, they would be requiring a different role from the ex-Paris Saint-Germain man, given he has tended to play further forward.

Real Madrid reject first offer for Dani Ceballos – personal terms agreed

Real Betis are certainly going to do what they can in order to bring in Dani Ceballos from Real Madrid on transfer deadline day, with Nabil Fekir due to exit for Al-Jazira in the United Araba Emirates. That deal will bring them €7m and save them significant salary space, but whether it will be enough to get Ceballos through the door is not clear.

Los Verdiblancos have agreed terms with Ceballos, but Los Blancos are demanding €20m for the 28-year-old, a figure that seems difficult for them to meet. Marca say that Real Madrid have already rejected an offer for Ceballos, which amounted to €5m for 50% of his rights, which would be paid in three instalments.

It seems Betis will need to at least double their offer in hope that Real Madrid are open to accepting an offer for half of his rights. Ceballos is unhappy with his lack of minutes at the Santiago Bernabeu, and is keen to play more. He has dropped out of the Spanish national team, after returning to the fold in Luis de la Fuente’s early months.
