Bernard Tekpetey, a Ghanaian forward currently playing for Ludogorets, has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to take decisive action to address the Black Stars’ poor performances in recent years. The national team has faced a series of disappointing results, failing to progress past the group stages in the last three major international tournaments—Cameroon (2021), Qatar (2022), and Ivory Coast (2023). The Black Stars' situation reached a new low when they failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), marking the first time in 20 years that Ghana will not be part of the competition. Tekpetey has expressed his frustration with these failures, emphasizing that the GFA must implement meaningful changes if the team is to regain its competitive edge.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Sports Nite, Tekpetey shared his thoughts on how the GFA should handle the future of the national team. He stressed that while the Black Stars have the potential to perform well on the global stage, there needs to be better planning and organization at the GFA. Tekpetey believes that the association must get its administrative house in order and take strategic steps to improve the national team’s performance. "There is still a lot of work to be done at the GFA, and I believe things need to be organized properly," he said. The forward emphasized that thoughtful planning and coordination between the GFA’s leadership and the team are crucial for future success.

Despite recovering from an injury, Tekpetey remains hopeful for the future of Ghanaian football. He expressed his belief that with proper management, the Black Stars can bounce back from their recent setbacks. The forward, who has earned two caps for the national team, is keen to see the team return to its winning ways. He also highlighted the disappointing failure of the Black Galaxies, Ghana’s local national team, who missed out on the 2024 CHAN tournament. This adds to the growing concerns about the state of football in the country. Tekpetey’s message is clear: the GFA must take immediate action to address the systemic issues affecting the national teams and restore Ghana’s footballing glory.
